The air in Mumbai is abuzz with excitement as the countdown begins for the highly anticipated court marriage of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s daughter, Ira Khan, with her partner Nupur Shikhare. The duo, who exchanged engagement vows back in September 2022, is all set to tie the knot after a year of planning and anticipation.
The Venue and Ceremonies
On the auspicious date of January 3, 2024, the couple is set to solemnize their court marriage in Mumbai. Preceding this, on January 2, the traditional haldi ceremony was a joyous affair attended by Aamir Khan’s ex-wife Reena Dutt and Kiran Rao. A heartwarming sight was witnessed as both Reena Dutt, Ira Khan’s biological mother, and Kiran Rao, her stepmother, adorned Maharashtrian sarees, actively participating in the wedding preparations.
Post their court marriage, as per customs, Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare will embark on a ceremonial journey in Udaipur, Rajasthan. There, following the traditional rituals, the couple will take the sacred seven vows, marking their union. Moreover, they plan to host a reception in Mumbai on the 12th of January, where they will extend their warm hospitality to a host of guests, although the guest list remains undisclosed as of now.
The Unique ‘No Gift Policy’
In a refreshing move, Ira Khan has initiated a ‘No Gift Policy’ for her wedding. She encourages guests to refrain from bringing material gifts and instead suggests contributing to NGO donations, a decision widely appreciated for its altruistic nature. Ira Khan herself is involved in mental health-related NGO work through Aayara.
Introducing Nupur Shikhare
Nupur Shikhare, the soon-to-be groom, is a renowned fitness trainer, having worked with several celebrities in the industry. Their love story blossomed amidst fitness training sessions, leading to their engagement in 2022 and now culminating in their upcoming marriage.
This union between Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare not only symbolizes their commitment but also reflects their stance on thoughtful, meaningful celebrations while embracing social responsibility.
